What Jaycees has meant to me.
In pondering a response to this questions numerous answers come to mind and I could rattle off a litany of benefits I received but that would bore you to death so I have decided to concentrate on one: The Jaycee Creed.
Have you ever seriously thought about those words you recite from memory? We Believe, …… To be honest I didn’t until I aged out, I was just too busy doing Jaycee stuff to ponder anything. Now over 12 years later these words have come to have significant meaning (yes I still remember and can recite the Creed). Consider the fact that a very young man wrote these wonderful words over 6 decades ago and yet they are alive and vital today. “We Believe, Faith in God, brotherhood of man, economic justice, free men/free enterprise, government of laws/not men, and service to humanity/best work of life”. Take some time and dig into the meaning of these profound words and especially note the bookends of the Creed: “Faith in God-Service to Humanity”. Did you realize that “Faith in God” always reveals itself in “service to humanity”: Ephesians 2:8-10.
If you take anything away from Jaycees, take the Creed. If you apply it to your daily life you will live with a continual sense of fulfillment the average Joe will never experience. I promise!

The Jaycee Creed
by C. William Brownfield
We believe...
That Faith in God gives meaning
and purpose to human life;
That the brotherhood of man transcends
the sovereignty of nations;
That economic justice can best be won by
free men through free enterprise;
That government should be of laws
rather than of men;
That earth's great treasure lies
in human personality;
And that service to humanity
is the best work of life.
