STATE PROGRAMS


Competitions: Competitions give members the opportunity to showcase or brush up on their skills and talents. The competitors’ fee is $5.00 per competition per convention. For information on how to conduct competitions in your local chapter or region, how to participate in the competitions, and State and National eligibility requirements.

Wisconsin Badger Camp: In 2007 the Wisconsin Junior Chamber Jaycees selected Wisconsin Badger Camp as our Priority Project. Their mission is to serve people with developmental disabilities by providing quality outdoor recreational experiences. Camp is available to anyone, regardless of their age, disability, or where they live. Our two main fundraising goals for 2008 are a large grill and camper sponsorships. Family Talk: Sponsored by Anheuser-Busch, Family Talk is a program designed for parents to encourage and help them communicate with their children about drinking.
Citizens Corp: In 2002 Citizen Corps was created to help coordinate volunteer activities that will make our communities safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to any emergency situation. To find out if a Citizen Corps Council already exists in your community you can go online (www.citizencorps.gov/councils/) or simply pick up the phone and call the mayor, city manager, or county commissioner’s office and ask if they have, or are planning, a Citizen Corps Council.

Outstanding Young Adult (OYA): The Outstanding Young Adults award recognizes excellence in youth. The award is open to young adults ages 16-20. Local Jaycee chapters, Jaycee support organizations, and communities are encouraged to submit candidates for this award. Candidates from Wisconsin who excel in academics, leadership and/or community service compete for this prestigious award.

Outstanding Young Wisconsinite (OYW): The Outstanding Young Wisconsinite award recognizes excellence. The award is open to Wisconsin residents ages 18-40. Local Jaycee chapters, Jaycee support organizations, and communities are encouraged to submit candidates for this award. Candidates from Wisconsin should be submitted for achievement in one or more of the following areas: business or civic leadership, community service, government service, athletic accomplishment.

Outstanding Young Farmer (OYF): The Outstanding Young Farmer award recognizes excellence in agriculture. The award is open to Wisconsin residents ages 37 years and younger. Local Jaycee chapters, Jaycee support organizations and communities are encouraged to submit and sponsor candidates for this award.

Aquafina Pitch, Hit, and Run: Pitch Hit and Run is a baseball skills competition for boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 14. Local competitions are held April to mid May. Winners from the local competitions advance to Sectionals, which are held in May. Winners from the sectional competitions are eligible to advance to the Team Competition, which takes place in Miller Park in June.

Pepsi Punt, Pass, and Kick: Punt, Pass, and Kick is a football skills competition for boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 15. Local competitions are held in August and September. Winners from the local competitions advance to Sectionals, which are held in October. Winners from the sectional competitions are eligible to advance to the Team Competition, which takes place at Lambeau Field.

ID College: An annual program that offers a variety of training courses useful for self-improvement. Features top-rated trainers from across the state and beyond. This year’s ID College will be held in April.

Superstars: Each year, Jaycees gather from across Wisconsin to compete in fun games and do battle on behalf of their regions. It’s also a chance to meet other Jaycees and enjoy time outdoors during the summer. This year’s Superstars will be held in July.

Conventions: Twice a year, in February and September, Jaycees gather from across Wisconsin to discuss business of the Wisconsin Jaycees, take training courses, and have a great time with socials. This year’s conventions are being held in LaCrosse and Portage.
